Stewed beef offal with daikon is a special snack in Guangdong. It is said that this dish was invented during the reign of Emperor Guangxu by a cook of Hui nationality who lived near the Huaisheng Mosque of Guangzhou city. He opened a store near the mosque to sell beef. He cooked beef offal, such as intestine and tripe with daikon, and cut them into cubes and sections before serving them. Many Muslims came to savor the delicacy, so this dish was soon popularized.
