August 8 marks China's 18th National Fitness Day. If you are a sports enthusiast, you won't want to miss the 2026 National Fitness Day-themed event and the 22nd Guangzhou Sports Festival, which will kick off on August 7 at the South Square of the Tianhe Sports Center in Guangzhou.

The launch ceremony will feature four major themes, over 20 sports activities, and interactive booths, designed to engage people of all ages. Best of all, every on-site activity is completely free, offering residents an immersive experience of the unique appeal of national fitness and the vibrant energy of Guangzhou's sports culture.

On August 8, public stadiums and gymnasiums at both municipal and district levels across Guangzhou will open free to the public. Meanwhile, sports consumption vouchers will be distributed to encourage residents to get out and be active. Free admission tickets can be reserved via the Quntitong (群体通) WeChat mini-program or app.

But the excitement doesn't end there. The Guangzhou Sports Festival will run throughout August, featuring more than 20 diverse sports competitions and events, including basketball, skating, martial arts, tai chi and more — ensuring that no matter your preference, you'll find one to suit you.

For more information, follow the official WeChat accounts "广州体育" and "广州市体育总会" for event details and registration.
