In traditional Cantonese “Yum Cha” (morning tea) culture, people usually order a cup of tea and two dishes of dim sum. Besides drinking tea in a traditional dim sum restaurant, many trendy coffee shops provide more options for coffee lovers in Liwan District, Guangzhou.

In this Liwan coffee map series, we will introduce fourteen coffee shops and four walking routes in four episodes, searching for a relaxing experience of visiting Xiguan’s old town while enjoying smooth coffee and delicious snacks. The first episode introduces part of the popular coffee shops on Enning Road.

Livin Fastfood——Coffee shop is a part of the block.

Add.:Shop 101, No.14 Zhong Lane, Liwan District, Guangzhou

Time: 9:00-22:00

Livin Fastfoot makes the shop part of a block through the double outdoor design. One way extends to Yongqing Fang Street, and the other heads to Lychee Bay.

A cup of refreshing coffee is highly recommended in the rainy season. The best-seller, “Crispy coconut coffee,” is made with frothy coffee served in coconut water and topped with a layer of coconut crisps.

Earning Coffee——A vintage coffee shop transformed from a family's ancestral house.

Add.:No. 155 Enning Road, Liwan District, Guangzhou

Time: Monday to Friday, 10:00-18:00; Saturday to Sunday, 10:00-21:00

Turning into Enning Road, Earning Coffee is on the ground floor of the veranda facing the street. The place used to be the Zhang family's house, with a doorplate hanging in front of the door written "Zhang's House."

The shop restores the appearance of the old Xiguan mansions, flat lock machine, electric fan, black wood furniture... all kinds of vintages that the shop owner dug out from his house.

As a native of the street, Earning Coffee's specials are all named in easy-to-understand Cantonese.

"Waat Lyut Lyut" means "smoothy" in Cantonese. The drink is made with a special condensed milk blend and deep-baked cocoa beans, creating a double silky texture.

“Loeng zam zam” means “cool and refreshing.” The whipped espresso drink presents the magic taste of stout, and the soda at the bottom of the cup adds liveliness and agility to the drink, sweeping away the haze of spring rain.

Cafe Floweryards——A wooden coffee house surrounded by flowers.

Add.: Ground Floor, No. 102, No. 104 Enning Road, Liwan District, Guangzhou

Time:9:00-22:00

The arcade on Enning Road connects the whole street, so there are no worries about getting wet when walking on rainy days. Cafe Floweryard is a small wooden house that looks like a greenhouse that will attract you when walking under the arcade.

The coffee shop is owned by a florist. Flowers and plants fill every corner of the store. The flowers are usually changed once a week, which is in season.

A cup of milky caramel latte is perfect when surrounded by flowers and plants.

The taste of Espresso Blend “Pineapple” highlights the tropical fruit aroma at first taste. Although caramel is added to the drink, it won’t taste too sweet. The slightly bitter caramel mixed with a gentle milk fragrance fills the whole mouth at the end of the taste.

A caramel crispy on the surface will slowly melt into the coffee, so there are no worries about the melting ice diluting the flavour.
