According to the press conference held by the Publicity Department of Guangzhou Liwan District on January 6, Liwan plans to hold several Chinese New Year events to bring citizens an unforgettable experience of Lingnan culture. Events include Guangdong Opera, new year concerts, Chinese Chess matches, intangible cultural heritage shows, and flower fairs during Chinese New Year.

To bring citizens a joyful vibe of Chinese New Year, the Cantonese Opera Art Museum will open every day till 9 pm from January 7 to February 5, showing classic Cantonese operas. Liwan District will also hold a series of Spring Festival activities, such as a lion dance performance, a new year costume parade, a flash mob, and the Lantern Festival carnival at Yongqing Fang. At Shamian, there will be classical music performances, a Chinese New Year Poetry Carnival, and Cantonese cuisine tasting activities. Moreover, a Chinese chess match will start from February 1 to 5 at the Guangzhou Culture Park and wait for challengers to win the trophy.

In addition, Liwan District has prepared 4 themes for flower fairs: floating flower fair, traditional flower fair, professional flower market, and specialty flower fair. The floating flower fair will start on January 11 at Liwan Lake Park. The Traditional Flower Fair will be held at the southwest of Guangzhou Culture Park with 120 booths starting on January 19. Three professional flower markets will set in Guangzhou Flower Exposition Park, Lingnan Flower Market and an online flower fair through the WeChat mini program "Lingnan Flower Market online trading platform" (岭南花市线上交易平台) and "Easy Flower Wholesale+ (易批花+)." Specialty flower fairs will open at Guangzhou Bingjiang Shangdu (from January 13-15) and Dongshi Peach Blossom Theme Park. Moreover, Liwan District will set convenient flower fairs at Chen Clan Academy Square and Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street with 40 stalls where residents can buy flowers in neighborhoods.

It is worth mentioning that the Vipshop application, Yongqing Fang, Hengbao Plaza, Yue City, Chengguanghui, Guangzhou Grandbuy Square (Lisheng), and Link Plaza Guangzhou will offer shopping discounts during the Spring Festival for the new year celebration.
