Liwan District People's Government of Guangzhou Municipality officially launched its English website on August 14, aiming to provide global audiences with credible and timely information, improve government services for expats and present the new charm of the historic city.

Apart from the latest news in Liwan, the website offers comprehensive information regarding the district overview, business environment, government services, tourist attractions and cultural facilities.

To promote the business environment of Liwan, the website provides a thorough introduction to the key business areas, including Baietan Central Business Zone, Northern Liwan Cultural Entertainment Zone and Hailongwei Science and Technology Innovation Zone. It also introduces the iconic specialized wholesale markets and updates the advantageous business policies in the district.

As for foreign residents, the website offers useful information for work and life in Liwan. Users can find service guidance for visa application, work permit, business registration and talent recognition. Useful information about the hospitals, education resources, hotels and hotlines of the district is also approachable now on the website.

To promote the authentic Cantonese culture, the website launched three interactive maps through which users can explore tourist attractions, cultural facilities and local cuisine in the district.

“We designed hand-drawn icons of famous tourist attractions, including Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street, Yongqing Fang, and Chen Clan Academy. Users can click to access the introduction of the tourist attractions and customize their own tourist routes accordingly,” said a staff member of the website’s operation team.

The staff member added that the map also showcases locations of sports centers, libraries, and museums, which are popular places in expats’ daily life.

In addition to traditional local cuisine, the English website provides the list of 16 restaurants in Liwan District on MICHELIN Guide Guangzhou 2023, as well as 13 trendy coffee shops.

The English website is also available in mobile versions so that users can easily browse the news and guidance through their mobiles at any time.
