A culture exchange event entitled "Shimmering Silk, A Glimpse of Sino-Western Cultural Exchange on the Maritime Silk Road" was held in Liwan District Wednesday, showcasing the district's profound historical and cultural heritage alongside its innovative modern culture to the world.

"Guangzhou embroidery, with its exquisite craftsmanship and rich colors, enjoys a high international reputation as an important bridge for cultural exchanges between China and the West," said Wang Heng, President of Guangzhou DSPPA Audio Co., Ltd. at the event. "The delicacy of pith painting and the magnificence of Guangcai porcelain showcase the unique cultural charm of Lingnan( a region mainly refers to Guangdong, Guangxi, Hongkong, Macao and Haian in old times), while the production of export silverware in Guangzhou demonstratesits status as a trade center andthe superb craftsmanship of Guangzhou artisans," he added.
Zhang Tinghui, Secretary-General of the Guangdong Guitar Research Association, interpreted the inspiration behind the music selection for the event, which integrated Eastern melodies with modern rhythms andbrought the audiencea visual and audio feast.
Starting with the ancient tuneof the trumpetaccompaniedby piano, the music's surging waves led everyone back tothe splendid years of the Maritime Silk Road, experiencing its profound history and cultural integration.

The event explored theculture of the Maritime Silk Road and the fusion of modern designin three chapters. Each chapter vividly depicted the profound charm of Lingnan culture and the long history of the Maritime Silk Road throughthe softness of Canton gauze, allowing the audience to experience the perfect integration of tradition and modern time.

The light footsteps of the models seemed to lead the audience into a world across time and space, where classical and modern, traditionand innovation were perfectly integrated.
The cello solo performed by Yan Dingmin, former Principal Cellist of the Guangdong Chinese Orchestra, brought a perfect conclusion to the entire event.
